Van Gogh, two Sketches

30 Aug

I think Van Goghs sketches are remarkable and with a few lines he can catch the toil, and sheer hard wok of the peasant, This sketch may appear as if the peasant is frozen in time but then that is what a photograph does , so that shows how good Van Gogh really was.

Peasant Man and Woman Planting Potatoes This second sketch shows peasants planting
potatoes and was sketched towards the end of his life in 1888. These peasants are planting potatoes perhaps with more action  here than in the previous sketch because e there are two peasants.Van Gogh uses mainly lines and cross hatching.

remarkable draughtsperson. And to think, when he finally chose art as his life’s work, he had no greater assumption than that he might ilustrate books one day.
