George Vicat Cole ( 1833-1893)-On Holmbury Hill

George Cole lived at Holmbury Cottage next to the hill for five years so must have have grown used to the hill , all its moods as well its weather.

In this paintingĀ  he uses the dark presence of a approaching shower cloud to highlight the sky as being the feature of this painting, there is a single figure walking on a track will they get caught in a possible downpour of rain?

What Can It Be?

What can it be? Is it a island Or is it somthing in space floating above the earth? Perhaps it is for youy the viewer to decide,.

This was a experimental pice done with PVC Glue and Acyrlic, Floating the AcrylicĀ  on the Glue and letting it dry after letting the shape form, The painting the background blue though I did Paint to start a balck background in emusion paint,

This lovely summer scene of Mounts Bay from Newlyn reminds us of happy summer days.

Stanhope Forbes was drawn to the are in part because of the people as much as the scenery. He became known as the Father of The Newlyn School of Painters
