Crows over Cornfield Van Gogh and New Painting

29 Aug

To days painting is by Van Gogh . I like the way the painting has movement and the crows flying, there is a sense of space in this painting. A modern day interpretation of a cornfield,

painted this over the past week , the weather here has been so grey!, we have a field next to the close where I live and there is a serial crop of some kind it is not tall enough for corn. This painting is based on this, I think the paint dribbling effect works well and adds interest.

It’s a stunning piece isn’t it? All of his confusion is represented in this his final work: The forked perspective, like he doesn’t know which way to turn; the black crows, so low against the corn like the gathering storm might have dashed them there.

Before I discovered Van Gogh I resented my lecturers making me do art history. But after reading his letters, I really got into it all.
